Equipment for hire

We are proud to introduce a piece of equipment to help you make a success of your traditional cider orchard, whether new or well-established. Over the last few years there has been a big increase in the number of orchards planted with ‘standard’ trees of cider varieties. As these trees mature the crop is increasing annually and in a few years cider apple production will have increased substantially.

To help harvest this increasing crop, we have invested in a Tuthill-Temperley M2000 Self-Propelled Cider Apple Harvester, described fully on www.tuthilltemperley.com/M2000

Brief Description:
The M2000 Harvester is a versatile pedestrian controlled pedestrian harvester. It picks up fruit in grass of different length and in most conditions or terrains. The fruit is cleaned by hedgehog brushes and delivered into two plastic baskets, each holding 20kgs of fruit. The machine picks up over a width of 0.8mwith an output of over 1 tonne per hour.
It is powered by a 5.5hp Honda four-stroke petrol engine. It has a six-speed gearbox, providinga range of speeds, as well as reverse gear and handbrake.
The M2000 Harvester is 2.4m long, 1.35m wide and 0.85m high. It weighs 220kgs.

To hire:
Orchard Lives’ machine is based near Chittlehampton. It is available for hire by OL members at the rate of £50/day. Users must provide fuel. Those using the machine must have attended a demonstration event. For details of demonstration, booking and hire terms, please telephone Colin Browne on 01769-540643.
Mobility:
To assist Orchards Live members in transporting the harvester to their orchards we have also acquired an Ifor Williams twin axle trailer; this is available at no extra charge.
